Maine Hospice Council Launches Act of Kindness Project
Maine Hospice Council and Center for End-of-Life Care (MHC), with statewide hospice members, is known for acts of kindness, especially to hospice patients and their families. And also for its work with prisoners, military veterans, and medical professionals practicing in a wide variety of areas.
What better way, then, to raise awareness of Maine Hospice Council and its work than launching the Act of Kindness project? The project is based on the simple idea of performing an act of kindness for someone without being asked. For example, paying for a restaurant meal of a military veteran, or for the toll cost of the car behind you on the highway.
Kate Sicotte, RN, a Clinic Supervisor at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, put together a sheet of ready to use Act of Kindness tags and a list of Act of Kindness ideas. Both the tags and the list are available for downloading from the Maine Hospice Council web site.
MHC Executive Director Kandyce Powell said of the Act of Kindness project, “We all need positive things to focus on during times of social and political turmoil.”
